Nurturant Parent Model

The Nurturing Parent - as opposed to the Strict Father Model is one of a pair of fundamental set of metaphors described by George Lakoff. The key assumptions include:

• Children should be cared for, by parents of either gender.
• Children should be modelled empathy and nurture so that they can nurture others.
• Fairness is essential value.

In his 1996 book, George Lakoff explains how the language of the Nurturant Parent is used by the US politicians,
